Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra: Grieg, Couperin, Tchaikovsky, Haydn Evening

If you are a fan of the cello, then don't miss the great Russian virtuoso Lev Sivkov, taking centre stage for the first of two concerts by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra on Saturday 18 April.

From François Couperin to Tchaikovsky, sublime works for cello and orchestra are on offer this evening, with the Concert Pieces by the French composer and the miraculous Andante Cantabile and Pezzo Capriccioso by the Russian – two musical worlds that are finally closer than first appears…

In symphonic music, there is a homage to the 18th century with one of Haydn's most famous symphonies, "The Hen", while Edvard Grieg pays tribute to the music of Bach in his Holberg Suite. This is a real miracle of verve and inventiveness, revealing a little-known face of the Norwegian composer.

Program

E. Grieg: The Holberg Suite, Op. 40
F. Couperin: „Pièces en concert“
D. Tchaikovsky: Andante cantabile and Pezzo capriccioso
J. Haydn: Symphony in G minor, No. 83 "The Hen"
