Occitania Chamber Orchestra: Haendel, Villa-Lobos, Britten, Albeniz, Sibelius, Neruda, Telemann Evening

A musical journey off the beaten track!

Another regular at the Easter Festival in Colmar, the musicians from the Occitania Chamber Orchestra will be returning from their home town of Toulouse to provide a wonderfully wide-ranging evening of styles and inspirations with the unusual combination of the trumpet and the guitar!

Thanks to a truly exceptional trio of trumpet players, Bernard Soustrot, Thierry Caens and David Guerrier, we will get to hear work for trumpet and orchestra written by Handel, Telemann, Albeniz and Jean Baptiste Georges Neruda. Neruda is an 18th century composer who is undeservedly forgotten today and who gave us a very attractive Trumpet Concerto.

The brass trio will be sharing the stage with the sublime guitar of Philippe Mouratoglou. We will have a chance to admire his skill with the Guitar Concerto composed by Villa-Lobos in 1951 for the great Andrés Segovia.
