Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia: Bach, Haendel, Holst & Mozart Evening

The Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie are regulars at the Easter Festival in Colmar. They are back again this year with a richly colourful programme. The orchestra will be taking us on a journey from the most flamboyant Baroque styles to the 20th century.

Representing the 18th century, the timeless Bach and Mozart will be taking centre stage this evening with the young pianist from Sarrebourg Jonathan Fournel performing Mozart's sublime Concerto n°18.

The French composer Henri Casadesus will make the link with the 20th century, because his Viola Concerto was written in the purest style of Handel (he even tried to make believe he had found Handel's original score in the archives…). We will also have the chance to hear a rare work by Gustav Holst, the early 20th century English composer whose style was the inspiration for John Williams in some of his most famous film scores, including Jaws, Star Wars, E.T. and Superman!

A great concert, filled with historical references!
