Constant Despres, piano
Constant Despres was born to an Indian mother and French father in 2006 from a family of musicians. He fell into eclectic music at a very early age. He was exposed to Ravi Shankar and Wagner as well as Miles Davis and Led Zeppelin.
He began his musical apprenticeship in La Lauzeta choir at 4 and a half.
He joined the Toulouse Conservatory just before his 6th birthday and went into Véronique Grange's class who he has since studied with.
Constant won first prize at the Flame 2016 Competition and won the following competitions: GCIP Svetlana Eganian 2015 - Chatou 2016 - Les Clés D'Or 2017 - Brest 2018 - Les Clés D'or 2018
He was shortlisted as the youngest candidate on the 2016 "Prodiges" TV programme produced by France 2 where he performed Rachmaninov's Rhapsody On a Theme Of Paganini with the Loire National Orchestra.
He took part in the "Prodiges le Grand Concert" programme at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille in June 2017 when he played the end of The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns accompanied by the Lille National Orchestra in front of 45,000 spectators.
He was a guest on France 2's "Stupéfiant" programme for a report about children and art. Constant has also been involved in film shoots such as videos of Chopin's Waltz Op.64 n°2 and Fantaisie-Impromptu which you can find on his Facebook and Youtube pages.
He will play J.S. Bach's Concerto in F Minor BWV 1056 with the Occitania Chamber Orchestra on April 5th 2019 at the Colmar Music and Culture Festival; on April 25th he will perform a recital at the Saint Pierre des Cuisines Auditorium in Toulouse and on August 17th at the Comminges Festival
