Romain Leleu, Trumpet

Romain Leleu is seen as one of the best performers of his generation due to his skilful and graceful style. He won "Instrumental Soloist Revelation" at the French classical music Victoires in 2009 and has performed solo on five continents as well as in recitals and with the biggest orchestras. As a chamber musician, he shares the stage with Thierry Escaich, François Dumont, Ibrahim Maalouf, Frank Braley etc.

Romain Leleu was trained in the French school of trumpet and is an adventurous musician who loves to explore new repertoires. He is dedicated to countless pieces by modern composers such as Martin Matalon, Philippe Hersant, Karol Beffa and Jean-Baptiste Robin.

In 2010 he founded the string quintet Ensemble Convergences made up of musicians from top French orchestras with whom he revisits the great classics of popular and formal music.

His albums, recorded with Sony and Aparté, have proved very popular with the public and media. His recordings of major classical concertos (Haydn, Hummel, Neruda) have been recognised by the Classique d’or RTL, 5 de diapason, Pizzicato, Resmusica.

Romain Leleu's plans for 2018-19 include performing the Haydn Concerto with the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Lodz in Poland, recording the Shostakovich Concerto with Frank Braley and the Royal Wallonia Chamber Orchestra, touring with Thierry Escaich in France and the Luxembourg Philharmonic, touring Russia and Lebanon as part of Inspirations with Ensemble Convergences and touring recitals with the piano or organ in the US and Taiwan.
