Stéphane Rougier, violin

Stéphane Rougier has performed at the biggest international venues in New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Munich, Saint Petersburg and more.

At 14 he joined the Paris Conservatory then, after winning prizes in violin and chamber music, he went to Germany to study and soon launched his career as a chamber music performer and violin and viola soloist.

He was the first solo violinist at the Bordeaux Opera for over a decade and regularly performs with countless French groups both in France and abroad. He is regularly invited to renowned festival such as the Bartok Festival in Hungary, OperKlosterneuburg in Austria, French May in Hong Kong, Folle Journée in Nantes, Tokyo and Bilbao.

He joined the Bordeaux Quartet with Cécile Rouvière, Tasso Adamopoulos and Etienne Peclard with whom he's been on countless tours of America and Asia, he has created music for films and ballet and devotes most of his time to teaching chamber music in master classes.

As the Musical Director of several festivals in France and abroad, he brings together the best current soloists and chamber musicians to introduce people to a different and original musical repertoire.

He has founded several traditional music bands including the Meshouge Klezmer Band where he plays, writes and sings Central European folklore melodies as well as an Argentine Tango group that performs with Juan José Mosalini. He also acts in the Eric Westphal play "Mozartement Vôtre".

He is heavily involved in a whole host of creations from theatre and ballet to electro and baroque music but what he likes most is to explore new horizons and share his musical findings and discoveries through encounters.
