Occitania chamber Orchestra - Bach / Mendelsshon / Vivaldi evening

The Occitania Chamber Orchestra is opening this year's Music and Culture Festival in Colmar. The musicians from the Toulouse area have made their mark on the music world with their sense of openness and togetherness. They play without a conductor so they have to listen to each other and this produces a new musical experience.

They bring us an exciting schedule. Baroque and romantic music takes pride of place with some of the best pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach (Orchestral Suite n°2 or his sublime Suite in D Major!) and Antonio Vivaldi (the fantastic Trumpet Concertos). These 18th century masters are paired with the great Violin Concerto by Felix Mendelssohn, an eminently romantic composer who loved his peers' repertoire and was inspired by it. However, we often forget that it was Mendelssohn himself who revived Bach's work after falling into oblivion in the early 19th century.

Program

JS. BACH: Suite n ° 2 in B minor for flute and strings, BWV 1067
F. MENDELSSHON: Concerto for violin, piano and strings in D minor MWV O4
A. VIVALDI: Trumpet Concerto No. 9 in D major op. 3 RV 230 from "The Estro Armonico"
A. VIVALDI: Concerto for 2 trumpets and strings in C major, RV 537
JS. BACH: Opening N ° 3 for orchestra in D major, BWV 1068
